John Bramwell sparkles at Leicester gig. 5/5

Marvin and Fiona Phythian @ The Musician From the moment he surreptitiously sneaked through the audience, Bramwell appears as a consummate singer-songwriter at incredible ease with his surroundings within Leicester’s famous venue - The Musician. Although not always mentioned in the folk scene due to his Indie roots a conversation needs to be had about how good Bramwell really is.  It is this writers view that John Bramwell must surely be considered one of the great English folk singer songwriters even if he is seen as more indie by some. Mini bio - Leicester DJ -Fitz Samuel

Some may say that being a DJ is simply being in charge of the music and pressing play and that’s it’s a fairly straight-forward business. Those in the know, know that the truth of the matter is quite the opposite. Leicester creative stalwarts: Soft Touch Arts, Arch Creative and Shaun Knapp, are...

5 Essential Thrash Metal Albums

By Mike Garnett The idea of creating a list of the 5 best metal albums of all time is fairly preposterous, the idea of the 5 best thrash albums is still daft but a bit more palatable.  There are of course many fine thrash albums. These are my own 5 killer LPs whose face melting guitar riffs have helped spawn and influence death metal, black metal, metalcore etc.  Enjoy and let us know who you think should have made the list?   Judas Priest – Painkiller (1990)   Judas Priest’s place in the pantheon of the metal gods had long-since...
