Leicester Punk Exhibition - last chance!

If you haven’t yet been to Leicester’s Punk Festival exhibition ‘Rage and Revolution’ you’d better be quick as it finishes in a couple weeks. The main exhibition at Leicester museum on New Walk is the best produced exhibition I’ve seen in Leicester and looks more akin to something you’d see in London or Liverpool.     The exhibition focuses on the history of punk in the UK with an additional magnifying glass on its influence in Leicester and those who played an active part in shaping the culture of punk through music, fashion, art and the political statements attached to them....

Punk: Rage and Revolution | exhibition and festival

If you love the punk scene or just fancy a trip back to an era full of rage and revolution, then this exhibition is for you. Kicking off May 27th at Leicester's New Walk museum, the opening weekend features nostalgic talks, live music and dance performances, a convoy of mods and a pop up record shop hosted by yours truly. Leicester creative stalwarts: Soft Touch Arts, Arch Creative and Shaun Knapp, are...

Julian Taylor @ The Musician Venue, Leicester, UK.

It’s the 12th February and I’m about to meet Julian in Leicester on the last day of his UK tour. Julian is a Canadian, a Canadian of Mohawk and Caribbean descent, by his own description he is a mongrel, yet conversely with his dreadlocks and Fedora, he exudes more presence, character and pedigree than anyone else I’ve met for a long time.

Leicester's Goldwater talk vinyl, song writing and up coming shows.

The Leicester quartet that make up Goldwater may have started life fairly quietly five or so years ago, and let’s face it, Covid didn’t do much to help the live music scene. But the band, comprising Grant Decker, Jay (Junior) Kenna, John Kenna and Carl Dawson, have not so much as burst onto the scene, as built it, only to discover that the audience will most definitely come and enjoy the show. Their psychedelic blues rock has built up a firm fan base, making them a popular fixture at festivals up and down the country, including the Midlands. Decker, who...
